17 teenagers detained for causing trouble in HCM city

On August 19, 2025, Ho Chi Minh city police prosecuted a case of public disorder involving 21 teenagers.

Vietnam detective service, among them, 17 were detained while 4 were placed under house arrest.

In the early morning of August 17, Traffic police unit no. 2 and Phuoc Hai commune police discovered 24 youths (aged 16–22) gathering to prepare for illegal street racing at Phuoc Hai embankment.

The authorities proceeded to confiscate a total of 21 motorbikes that had been illegally modified and altered from their original design.

Ho Chi Minh detective, the bikes had been altered with loud exhaust pipes, removed mirrors, and unsafe parts.

Many riders wore masks or covered license plates to evade police.

Most of the group came from Binh Duong, Dong Nai, and Phu My city, Vietnamese detectives.

They had arranged the gathering via social media, then rode at high speeds and swerved dangerously from Dong Nai to Phuoc Hai, endangering other road users.
