Commune officials play cards for money in Thanh Hoa

Authorities in Nong Cong, Thanh Hoa said, with the violation of gambling for money at the headquarters, the leader of Nong Cong district issued a decision to suspend work with Mr. Do Khac Minh, chairman of the People’s Committee of Minh Nghia commune; Luong Khac Nam, Chairman of People’s Committee of Te Loi Commune; Le Van Due, Chairman of the People’s Council of Te Thang Commune, and Mr. Ngo Minh Trung, commander of the Military Command of Te Loi Commune.

Around 9 pm on August 6, Nong Cong district police discovered these people were playing cards for money at the headquarters of the People’s Committee of Te Loi commune. The police collected a deck of cards and the amount was more than 650,000 VND, the group of commune officials played cards but not to the extent of criminal punishment, the police then administratively sanctioned these people.

Thanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee directed the Nong Cong District Party Committee to stop the work of the people involved to clarify information and strictly handle them.

On the afternoon of August 6, Mr. Luong Khac Nam and a number of other officials from the two communes of Te Loi and Minh Nghia shared a meal and drank wine at a local house. These people went to the headquarters of the People’s Committee of Te Loi commune to drink water and then invite each other to play cards.

Chairman of Minh Nghia Commune People’s Committee Do Khac Minh admitted that he went to the dining room in Te Loi Commune People’s Committee to play cards, but “only collected money to buy two ducks for dinner, not for money”. The case is still under investigation.
