In Da Nang, Ma Xingfa, 35 years old, Chinese nationality, and three Vietnamese: Hua Phu Duc, Nguyen Thanh Trung and Mai Thanh Duy, were detained.
These three people were detained to investigate the act of “illegal detention”, Da Nang detective.
According to the investigation agency, Ma Xingfa hired the three people above to arrest a Chinese citizen, Wang Wenqiang – who had previously borrowed 100,000 yuan, to gamble.
After losing, Wang had his passport and visa confiscated, then was taken to a hotel in the Hoiana area, then continued to be transferred to Phuong Linh hotel to be detained to force him to pay the debt.
The investigation also showed that Ma Xingfa may have carried out at least two similar cases before, controlling debtors to force their families in China to pay ransom.
During the search, the authorities discovered many exhibits including: two debt receipts, 9 mobile phones, and a car.
Rapid tests showed that Hua Phu Duc and Nguyen Thanh Trung tested positive for drugs.
Vietnam detective, the case is being further investigated according to Vietnamese law.
