Group of reporters prosecuted for extortion in Phu Quoc

An Giang Provincial Police have just prosecuted 4 reporters related to the property extortion case in Phu Quoc, Phu Quoc detective agency.

Vietnam detective, this group includes Le Tien Phong, Tran Tam Diep and Le Nam Trung, and Vu Van Nam.

According to the investigation of the authorities, since 2021, when discovering that LHD Company illegally divided and sold land, the group of reporters approached the company’s leaders, asking for money to not publish unfavorable news.

They demanded 300 million VND, but the company was later forced to pay 500 million VND and promised to give each person three plots of land.

In addition, there was another transaction worth 400 million VND, of which Nam kept 200 million and divided it with Trung.

The investigation agency has temporarily detained Nam and Trung, applied a measure to prohibit Phong from leaving his place of residence, and issued a wanted order for Diep.

This case is part of a series of violations related to LHD Company, which was accused of fraud by dividing and selling fake land in Phu Quoc;

A number of forest rangers and commune leaders have also been prosecuted for accepting bribes.
