Ho Chi Minh city police have just busted a case of smuggling a large quantity of sugar from Cambodia to Vietnam.
The arrested subject is Bui Xuan Trong, born in 1992, who has been prosecuted and detained to investigate the act of illegally transporting goods across the border.
According to the records, on September 8, Trong agreed to transport a shipment of sugar from Hoa Lu border gate to Ho Chi Minh city for a fee of 8 million VND.
From Song Than 2 Industrial Park, Trong drove a container truck to the border, then followed instructions to go through the small border to Cambodia to receive the goods.
The subject loaded 800 bags of sugar onto the truck, totaling about 40 tons, Ho Chi Minh detective agency.
In order to deceive the authorities, Trong prepared a number of documents such as a delivery and receipt record and three sales invoices dated July 22 to legalize the origin of the shipment.
At around 0:30 on September 10, when the container truck was traveling on National Highway 13, passing through Phu An Ward, Ho Chi Minh city, the Economic Police Department conducted an inspection and discovered all the smuggled goods.
The investigation agency has temporarily detained the sugar and the vehicle, and is expanding the investigation to clarify the related subjects.
Ho Chi Minh City Police affirmed that they will continue to strengthen inspection and strictly handle smuggling acts, in order to protect the domestic market and ensure economic security and social order.
