Information from the authorities said that on the evening of April 12, 2021, the police of Thanh Hoa province, Vietnam, had just issued a decision and arrested Mr. Ho Dinh Tung, Vice Chairman of the People’s Council of Nghi Son Thanh Hoa town Vietnam.
At 16:45 on April 12, at the People’s Committee of Nghi Son town, the police issued an arrest warrant and searched Tung’s office. The police conducted to seal the office and seize many related documents to serve the investigation. In June 2020, a clip was released online with the title “Suspecting Vice Chairman of Tinh Gia District (now Nghi Son town) Thanh Hoa taking bribes”, causing a stir nationwide. The People’s Committee of Nghi Son town immediately asked the police to clarify.
Ho Dinh Tung holding the position of Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Nghi Son town also denounced that he was threatened and extorted by a group of people. During the investigation, Thanh Hoa Provincial Police issued a decision to prosecute the case, prosecute the accused, and detain 6 related persons to investigate the crime of “Forced property”.
Among the 6 people arrested, there are 2 reporters from a magazine operating in Thanh Hoa province, P.V.A and L.D.T – the authorities continue to investigate and clarify the case.
