The Investigation police agency of An Giang province has initiated criminal proceedings against Ngo Quoc Dinh, 18, a resident of Giong Rieng commune.
Vietnam detectives, authorities have also ordered his temporary detention. The case is being investigated as an alleged sexual assault involving a person under 16.
According to initial information from authorities, Dinh lived with his biological father, stepmother, and his stepmother’s 13-year-old daughter.
At around 10 p.m. on July 2, Dinh allegedly restrained the girl and sexually assaulted her.
After discovering the incident, the girl’s mother reported the case to the Giong Rieng Commune Police.
Authorities subsequently conducted verification, interviewed relevant individuals, and collected evidence for the investigation.
During questioning, Dinh reportedly admitted to the alleged conduct. Based on the initial findings, investigators carried out the necessary legal procedures in accordance with regulations.
The Investigation Police Agency of An Giang Province is continuing to investigate the case and clarify relevant circumstances before taking further action in accordance with the law.
As the case involves a minor, the victim’s identity and other information that could reveal her identity should be protected in accordance with legal requirements.
