Police in Da Nang have uncovered an alleged laughing gas distribution operation, seizing 289 cylinders and detaining a man suspected of transporting them for sale.
Early on September 8, officers from Da Nang Police’s Economic Crime Investigation Division, working with Ngu Hanh Son Ward Police, found 36-year-old Nguyen Quynh Anh Phu.
He was transferring cylinders from a truck to an electric vehicle for delivery, Vietnamese detectives.
Danang detective, authorities discovered six cylinders in the vehicle and 283 more inside the truck.
Phu reportedly told investigators that he had purchased 480 cylinders from a supplier in northern Vietnam in early September for VND 750,000 each, with the shipment valued at around VND 360 million.
The cylinders were transported to Da Nang and kept in a truck near the Nguyen Phan Chanh–Vung Trung 1 intersection. Phu allegedly used the truck as a storage point and collected cylinders whenever customers placed orders.
He allegedly sold each cylinder for VND 1.4 million, almost twice the purchase price.
The case remains under investigation, Vietnam detective agency 2026.
