Through routine patrols, Tan Dinh Ward Police in Ho Chi Minh City uncovered two drug-related cases in succession.
At around 1 p.m. on August 1, officers patrolling in front of 55 Tran Nhat Duat Street spotted Dinh Tran Anh Duy, born in 1994, acting suspiciously.
A search found a plastic bag containing a crystal-like substance suspected to be methamphetamine in Duy’s trouser pocket.
Duy was taken to the police station and tested positive for drugs.
Further investigation identified seven people linked to the case, with drugs and drug-use equipment also seized.
Ho Chi Minh City Police urgently arrested four people on suspicion of drug trafficking, organizing illegal drug use, and drug possession.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the roles of the remaining three individuals.
During the investigation, police also identified Nguyen Duc Duy, born in 1986, who was wanted in connection with a gambling case.
On the afternoon of August 2, Tan Dinh Ward Police stopped Bui Thanh Canh, born in 1987, and Bui Hoai Nam, born in 1995, in an alley on Tran Khac Chan Street.
A search found another plastic bag containing a crystal-like substance suspected to be methamphetamine in Nam’s possession.
Both Canh and Nam tested positive for drugs.
At around 10 p.m. the same day, police arrested two more people connected to the case.
They also tested positive for drugs.
Police determined that a total of six people were involved in the second case.
Tan Dinh Ward Police are working with the Ho Chi Minh City Police Department’s Drug Crime Investigation Division to trace the source of the drugs.
Authorities are also clarifying each suspect’s role and alleged offenses for further legal action.
