Police in My Phuoc Tay ward, Dong Thap province, are completing legal procedures against a 59-year-old woman accused of stealing 59 lottery tickets from a disabled lottery vendor.
The suspect, identified as Huynh Thi Luyen Anh, allegedly took advantage of the victim’s distraction before fleeing the scene with the tickets.
According to authorities, on July 28, Nguyen Nhut S. reported the incident to the local police. S., who uses a wheelchair due to a disability, earns a living by selling lottery tickets on the streets.
The theft reportedly occurred on July 17 along Vo Thanh Tam Street in My Phuoc Tay Ward. While S. was serving a customer, a woman stopped on a motorcycle and asked to buy lottery tickets.
As the vendor focused on selecting the tickets, she allegedly seized 59 tickets and quickly left before he realized what had happened.
After receiving the report, police reviewed security camera footage and gathered evidence to identify the suspect.
Their investigation led them to Huynh Thi Luyen Anh, who was later invited to the police station for questioning.
During the investigation, Anh allegedly admitted to stealing the lottery tickets, Vietnamese detectives.
Authorities are continuing to complete the case file and handle the matter in accordance with Vietnamese law.
