The Investigation Police agency of Ca Mau provincial police has placed two men under emergency detention for investigation on allegations of robbery following an incident that occurred at a local coffee shop.
According to the authorities, at around 9:00 a.m. on July 22, the two suspects arrived at a coffee shop operated by a woman.
At the time, the owner’s 9-year-old son was lying in a hammock using a mobile phone, Vietnam detective agency.
Taking advantage of the fact that the child was alone, one of the suspects suddenly rushed over, snatched the phone, and fled.
An accomplice was waiting outside on a motorcycle and immediately picked him up before both escaped the scene.
After taking the phone, the suspects went to a market area in Phong Hiep Commune, intending to have the device unlocked and sold for cash.
However, police officers located and apprehended the suspects before they could carry out their plan.
According to investigators, the two detainees are identified as Truong Van Tung, 32, a resident of Vinh Phuoc Commune, Ca Mau Province, and Nguyen Van Do, 42, a resident of Cai Khe Ward, Can Tho City. Authorities stated that both men are drug users.
The Investigation Police Agency of Ca Mau Provincial Police is continuing its investigation and handling the case in accordance with the law.
