On May 31, police in Truong Vinh Ward, Nghe An Province, announced that they had quickly solved a major theft case involving a Rolex watch.
The case was cracked within about three hours after receiving the report, Vietnamese detectives.
Earlier, on the morning of May 29, Mr. H.H.T., 41, reported that his Rolex watch had been stolen.
The watch was valued at approximately VND 665 million.
Immediately after receiving the report, police examined the scene and launched an investigation to identify the suspect.
By noon the same day, officers arrested Trinh Duy Manh, 31, a resident of Vinh Hung Ward, Nghe An Province.
At first, Manh denied any involvement. However, after being confronted with evidence collected by investigators, he admitted to the theft.
According to his statement, after stealing the Rolex watch, he sold it to a shop in Thanh Vinh Ward for VND 150 million.
Police recovered the stolen watch and are continuing legal proceedings in accordance with the law.
