Police in Tiên Minh Commune, Hai Phong, have arrested two suspects linked to a series of ongoing cat thefts in the area. The arrests were made while the individuals were actively carrying out the theft.
The area had recently seen repeated incidents of dog and cat theft, prompting increased nighttime patrols and monitoring of suspicious individuals.
At around 11:30 PM on April 14, Vu Van Lang born 1991 and Pham Van Truong born 1987, both from Chan Hung Commune, set out to steal cats.
After moving into Tiên Minh, they caught two cats in Ba Da hamlet and continued searching for more targets.
In the early hours of April 15, while appearing suspicious in Cam Khe hamlet, they were stopped by police.
Vietnam detective agency, Lang fled the scene, while Truong was apprehended.
At the police station, Truong confessed to the theft. Seized evidence included two cats, weighing about 3.7 kg, a motorbike, and tools used in the crime.
Authorities confirmed that Truong has two prior convictions, while Lang has one. The case remains under investigation.
